The Rotary Club of Njiro in Arusha has reaffirmed its commitment to establish a public library in Njiro area with the aim of fostering a culture of reading and learning within the community.
This was revealed by the Club’s incoming President, Prof Raymond Mosha, during his installation ceremony held recently at Corridor Springs Hotel in Arusha.
Prof Mosha highlighted the library project as the Club’s top priority for the new Rotary year. Once completed, the facility will accommodate approximately 100 students and is expected to cost around TSh 300 million.
The planned library will become the third public-access facility in Arusha city – joining the government-owned library on Sokoine Road and another in Usa River, established by a private philanthropist.
Taking over from outgoing president Dr Paul Kisanga, Professor Mosha pledged dedicated service, describing his new role as “chief servant of fellow Rotarians who, in essence, are servants of the community.”
He urged Rotary members to intensify their engagement and enhance the Club’s visibility in Njiro and neighbouring areas. “Let us be more present, seen and felt. The more people understand what Rotarians do, the more they will join us—and our impact on communities will grow,” he said.
Professor Mosha also called for stronger collaboration among Rotary clubs in Arusha, encouraging joint community projects for broader and more sustainable impact.
The installation ceremony was officiated by Assistant Rotary Governor Yves Nzeyimana.
Also in attendance was outgoing Arusha Mayor Maximilian Matle Iranghe, who praised the Club’s contributions to improving health, education and sanitation in the city.
