The British philosopher, Francis Bacon (1561–1626) said: Knowledge is power. Indeed, when one knows something, one has the potential that empowers self all needed wisdom and does not know everything. This realisation not only makes this leader humble but also inspires her or him to be open to benefit from the wisdom and knowledge of others.
This is the kind of leader that families, communities and countries need. We are desperately in need of leaders who are humble and who widely consult others around them. They go to great lengths to find wise and knowledgeable people to advise them. They appreciate and make use of different opinion.
The more leaders consult the wise and knowledgeable people around them, the better they become as leaders. Their countries shine in development. It is a pity that in the so-called developing countries, we witness some leaders who think that they know it all and have all needed wisdom. As a result, these countries will continue to be called developing forever, never to join the group of developed countries. That is why we are saying: great leaders use great minds. They are not afraid of these minds. They keep them close at hand.
As humans we are endowed with spirit, mind and body. This reflection centers on the use of these divine gifts for the good of ourselves, others and the world around us. The more we use our spiritual and mental power the better we become in improving our lives and the environment around us.
But then there is this other fact: each of us has unique spiritual power, unique mental power and unique physical power. In the sphere of spiritual power, we have the potential to become wise, and in mental power we have the potential to become intelligent human beings.
Then there is this other fact: no one has all the wisdom necessary for successful life experience and none of us knows everything. A person who realizes this fact knows that he or she needs the wisdom of others to compliment and inspire oneself and also needs the knowledge of others to compliment what one know.
Imagine the power of a leader who realises this fact: That she or he needs the wisdom and knowledge of others in order to be a good leader. This leader knows beyond doubt that she or he does not have all needed wisdom and does not know everything.
