The Christmas and New Year season is always a special occasion for almost all of humankind — and now it is here once again.
Yet each individual has certain memorable events that bring back special and unique experiences lived during this festive period.
For my part, I have lasting memories of my Christmas Eve experience in 1976 in Dar es Salaam. At the time, I was a young man — and a Dusonian for that matter; that is, one who belonged to the then Dar es Salaam University Students Organisation (DUSO).
I was also a member of a special group of Dusonians who had perfected the art of stealing our way into the many Dar es Salaam–based live-band dance halls — for free.
Indeed, it was a star performance. He sang the season’s masterpiece:
“Hark, the stars the angels sing…
Mary’s little child Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day.”
A lasting memory indeed.
Meanwhile, Season’s greetings to you all!
