POETRY CORNER — KIJIJI CHRONICLES

At Mama Z’s, the shop is wide
With bread and soap and beans inside
The shelves lean left, the cat looks bored
A toddler sleeps beside the cord
And everyone pays when they can

The news is told with heavy breath
A goat escaped, they chased it west
Someone saw clouds that looked like rice
A boy drank milk not smelling nice
It’s how we know the world each week

The rooster guards the second gate
He chases shoes and signs of hate
A preacher buys some tea at four
And blesses change left from the store
Then walks back home through muddy light

Children sit near Fanta crates
They draw in dust and talk of fate
One swears he’ll build a house by June
Another hums a stubborn tune
They’ve never known a boring day

By sunset time the kiosk hums
The drum of life, the sound of crumbs
You come for salt, you leave with tales
The village breathes through oil and scales
And stories sweeter than the jam

And if I scroll or snack again,
At least I’ll do it stress-free then.
Not lazy… just emotionally green.
