Poetry by Thomas Mhando
The ground it shakes, the smoke turns black,
The mountain roars, there’s no way back!
The lava glows, the heat so high,
As fire tears across the sky.
The village runs, the drums sound loud,
Warnings spread across the crowd.
The elders pray, the flames draw near,
A force so raw, so strong, so clear.
The rivers turn to steam so fast,
The trees ignite, they cannot last.
Yet from the ash, new life will bloom,
A land reborn, from death to bloom.
In Africa, the earth is wild,
A force untamed, both fierce and mild.
And though the fire burns today,
The land will rise in grand display.
