ALL SET FOR NANE NANE

Organised under the theme “Leadership for a Resilient Future: Advancing Sustainable Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries 2025”, the Arusha event will bring together government institutions, private agribusinesses, NGOs, universities, research centres and farmer groups to showcase innovations in agriculture, livestock and fisheries, according to the event’s Co-ordinator, Mr. Lorick Daniel, from the Arusha Regional Commissioner’s Office.

Visitors to the Arusha grounds can expect live demonstrations of modern farming equipment, seed varieties, irrigation technologies, livestock breeds and value addition techniques. In past editions, exhibitors such as East-West Seed have demonstrated the performance of tropical vegetable varieties under Arusha soil and climate conditions.

Another attraction in this year’s exhibition will be demonstration of clean cooking energies under the auspices of the Tanzania Women Business Association (TABWA), according to Ms Noreen Mawalla, Executive Secretary of the organisation.

Clean cooking aims to raise awareness about pollution-free energy technologies and their importance in improving health, reducing environmental impact and empowering women. The initiative is part of a national campaign spearheaded by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to promote sustainable household energy solutions.

The Arusha News reporters who visited the site saw exhibitors putting up last touches to pavilions, ready for this week’s big event. The Nane Nane showgrounds in Arusha will open daily from 08:00 hours to 18:00 hours. Police have beefed up security in and around the showgrounds.

Nane Nane, which is a public holiday, is celebrated every August 8 as Tanzania’s official Farmers’ Day to honour and promote the crucial role of farmers in national development. The Arusha edition is one of several shows that take place simultaneously in regions such as Mbeya, Morogoro and Mwanza.

The Nane Nane showgrounds in Arusha will open daily from 08:00 hours to 18:00 hours.
