Privately owned Arusha’s Ernest Meyner School is modernising its education model with new skills-based programmes and improved learning facilities.
School Manager, Mr Julius Meliyo, said the investment reflected the school’s determination to prepare pupils for the demands of modern education.
“We have made tremendous strides in the past decade, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 epidemic. With these new facilities and practical courses, we want our pupils to leave here ready for both academic and real-world challenges,” he said.
The shift, unveiled during last week’s Standard Seven graduation, includes hands-on training in ICT, music, sewing, sports and German language, supported by a new library, computer lab and dining hall.
School Committee Chairman, Mr Gideon Mkoine, added that the changes were aimed at nurturing young talents for future leadership. “Our priority is to prepare the youth for a better tomorrow by equipping them not only with knowledge but also with practical skills that will shape their lives,” he said.
The school leavers used the occasion to thank parents and guardians for their support, describing the day as the end of one journey and the beginning of another. The ceremony featured traditional dances, poetry and a fashion show that allowed pupils to showcase their new skills.
Mr Meliyo appealed to education stakeholders to continue supporting the school which now serves 120 pupils and 20 members of staff. “We welcome partners who can help us grow and deliver quality education,” he said.
