MANYARA ALLOCATES 2.1BN/- FOR DEVELOPMENT

From The Arusha News Reporter in Manyara

Manyara Region is set for a major boost in local development following the allocation of Sh 2.1 billion to fast-track key community projects, the Regional Commissioner (RC), Ms Queen Sendiga, said during her tour of Hanang District recently.

The funds will go towards enhancing services in critical sectors such as health, education, water, infrastructure and agriculture, she explained.

“With this injection of resources, all pending initiatives will soon be finalised and the public will start to enjoy the benefits of these enhancements,” she stated, reaffirming the government’s resolve to improve service delivery in the region.

She also commended residents for their proactive role for community development, singling out the construction of a new dormitory at Jorojick Secondary School where the community contributed Sh 42m, with the government topping up Sh 70m for the project.

Ms Sendiga lamented the now rampant land disputes, which she said slowed progress and fuelled unnecessary tensions in the society. The Hanang District Council Chairperson, Ms Rose Kamili, said local authorities would continue to monitor project implementation closely and ensure every shilling was used for the intended purposes.
