‘NARCO DEALERS’ YET TO BE CHARGED IN KENYA

Two Tanzanians arrested on the Kenyan side at the Namanga border crossing for drug trafficking are yet to appear in court to answer charges against them.

Authorities in Kenya arrested Kidia One Express bus driver, George Ngoba (37) and his female conductor, Trisha Lucas (25) on January 20, 2026, allegedly for trafficking in cannabis, a narcotic drug banned in the neighbouring country.

A large consignment of the drug was said to have been found hidden in the fuel tank of their Nairobi bound bus during regular checking of border crossing vehicles. It was estimated to have a street value of Ksh. 2.5 million (about USD 19,000), apparently offering the incentive for taking the risk.

Officials in Kenya have said the two were helping with investigations and would be arraigned to court soon.
