SH 12BN SET FOR MANYARA ROADS

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) in Manyara Region will spend more than Sh 12 billion on road maintenance and development in the 2026/2027 fiscal year.

According to a proposed budget, the agency will continue constructing a concrete road at Magara Hill and compensate properties affected by the construction of key asphalt roads, including Singe–Kimotorok–Ngopito, Mbuyu wa Mjerumani–Mbulu, Mogitu–Haydom and Dareda–Dongobesh.

TANROADS Regional Manager, Mr Dutu Masele, said the agency has also allocated Sh 13.5 billion for the 2025/26 financial year to maintain 1,657 kilometres of roads and carry out minor repairs on 63 bridges.

He noted that ongoing works include maintaining trunk and regional roads, repairing damaged sections through pothole patching and applying asphalt layers.

Meanwhile, TARURA Acting Manager in Manyara, Mr Salim Bwaya, said five projects are planned for 2026/2027 using community labour and contractors, focusing on clearing vegetation, unblocking culverts, improving drainage systems and installing street lights.

Manyara Regional Commissioner, Ms Queen Sendiga, emphasised that reliable road infrastructure is essential for economic growth at both regional and national levels.
