Four East African football powerhouses – Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Sudan – will take part in a pre-Chan Challenge between July 24 and 27 at Tanzanite Stadium in Babati, Manyara Region.
The tournament will serve as a vital preparatory ground ahead of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda in August.
Reserved exclusively for locally-based players, the CHAN tournament demands sharp tactical readiness and squad depth – elements all four participating nations aim to sharpen during this four-day showdown.
The mini-tournament kicks off on Thursday, July 24, with Uganda taking on Sudan in the tournament’s opening match at 1:00 pm. Later that day at 4 pm, Kenya’s Harambee Stars will face hosts Tanzania in what promises to be a spirited East African derby.
The winners from Matchday 1 will advance to the final, set for Sunday, July 27, while the losing teams will compete in the third-place playoff earlier that same day.
