A to Z and ACC have qualified for the final of Arusha Region Cricket Tournament after their semi-final victories at the St Constantine Ground last week.
In the first semi-final, A to Z edged past Telleq in a nail-biting finish. After winning the toss, Telleq opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 141/9. Hiral Patel led the innings with a well-made 54 while Yogendra Pratap contributed 25. For A to Z, Dushant Singh impressed with the ball, claiming 3/39 and Vijay Dhanman chipped in with 2/15.
Chasing 142, A to Z’s innings was kept flat at regular intervals. Vijay Dhanman (24) and Dushan Singh (22) made useful contributions but it was Mahipal who held his nerve to hit the winning runs in the final over. A to Z reached 143/8 in 19.3 overs booking their ticket to the final. Tellequ’s Harshil Patel took 3/28 and Vinay Kumar grabbed 2/42 in a valiant effort.
In the second semi-final, ACC displayed brilliant batting after winning the toss and choosing to bat. Their top order fired on all cylinders with Shawn scoring 51, Sachin Agarwal 56 and Jainam Jenj 38 powering ACC to a formidable 187/4. For Kilimeru, Shahab Haider (1/22), Liyakut (1/30) and Imran Dhalla (1/32) took a wicket apiece.
In response, Kilimeru began steadily but the key men were kept by regular breakthroughs. Shahab Haider (40), Alisaghar Hirji (44) and Mujtaba Sajan (21) offered resistance but the side fell short, being restricted 156/7, falling short by 31 runs. ACC’s Jainam Jenj picked up 2/39 while Gurprit Singh contributed with 1/34.
The final will be played tomorrow, July 27.
