ARUSHA SANDHU’S FLYING START CUT SHORT BY MECHANICAL WOES

By The Arusha News Reporter

Arusha rally ace driver Gurpal Singh Sandhu made a brilliant start in the Mkwawa Rally in Morogoro last week before misfortune struck on the final third leg. His Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X suffered a mechanical failure, forcing him to retire from the event.

“It was very unfortunate—after such a strong beginning, some engine problems forced us out,” Sandhu told The Arusha News. He added that his sights are now firmly set on the Guru Nanak Rally in November in Arusha.

The Mkwawa Rally was retained by Ahmed Huwel in a Toyota GR Yaris while Dar es Salaam’s Sameer Nahdi (Ford Fiesta Proto) and Waleed Nahdi in Subaru Impreza (Morogoro) secured second and third places respectively.

The event served as both round of the Tanzanian National Rally Championship (NRC) and the African Rally Championship (ARC).
