CYRIL BROWN STEALS THE SHOW AT ARUSHA GOLF TOURNAMENT

Cyril Brown emerged as the overall champion of this year’s Four Points by Sheraton Arusha, The Arusha Hotel Golf Tournament held at the Arusha Gymkhana Club last weekend. Brown dominated Division C with a commanding 49 points — the highest score of the day — to secure the coveted title. The tournament drew more than 60 golfers, including 17 players from Kenya, representing prestigious clubs such as Muthaiga, Thika Greens and Ruiru. Their participation not only heightened the competitive edge, but also reinforced the strong golfing ties between the two nations. In Division A, Hussein Khanbhai carded 32 points to narrowly edge out Sheetal Aggarwal, who finished on 31. Division B honours went to Richard Gomes with 40 points while Kassim Somji was placed second on 32. In the ladies category, Parina Sonigara clinched the top spot with 39 points ahead of Shreya Sachdev’s 28. Among the Guests, Joyce Ngwiri led with 31 points followed closely by Shaizad Bhanji on 28. Special awards added sparkle to the day: Ali Abbas Somji took the Longest Drive while Bhavesh Gohil won the Nearest to Pin. Four Points by Sheraton General Manager, Krishna Suri, praised the impressive turnout and reaffirmed the hotel’s commitment to sponsoring future tournaments and supporting the growth of the sport in the region. He also lauded the challenge brought by the Kenyan golfers which elevated the quality of play. Greenkeeper Ashik Nanabhai was praised by both players and organisers for his excellent stewardship of the golf course. The prize-giving ceremony carried a special moment of recognition when the Board of Directors of Kenya’s Muthaiga Golf Club honoured Tanzania’s veteran golfer, General Mirisho Sarakikya, for his role in building the relationship between the Nairobi-based club and the Arusha Gymkhana.
