Promising golfer Kush Lodhia made his mark on the greens last weekend after rising above a competitive field to top Division One at the one-day Crown Paints Golf Tournament at the Arusha Gymkhana Club.
Playing with confidence and control, Lodhia signed off with 37 deserved victory.
The event drew 44 golfers and was played under a singles Stableford format, which brought together rising talents, seasoned club regulars and determined challengers, all chasing a place on the scoreboard.
Neema Olomi took second place with 35 points, while Luv Lodhia completed the top three with 32 points after a countback decision.
Division Two turned into a showcase of determination, powered by a strong performance from Bella Sikwattah, who stole the spotlight with 40 points — one of the highest tallies of the tournament. She was followed by Hatim Khanbhai and Hans Ngotea, both on 34 points, with countback once again used to separate the final standings.
If anyone expected Division Three to be a laid-back contest, the scoreboard proved otherwise. Cyril Brown lit up the leaderboard with another 40 points, sealing victory and maintaining pressure on those chasing from behind. Bhavesh Gohil scored 39 points to secure second place while Avtar Singh Neote impressed with 36 points to close the podium.
Speaking at the prize-giving ceremony, Crown Paints (T) Limited General Manager, Sanjay Babuta, assured organisers and participants that the company will continue supporting golf in the region. “From the enthusiasm demonstrated in the just-ended tournament, I am convinced that this sport must be supported,” he said, noting that golf showcases talent, discipline and community spirit worth investing in.
