More than 1,500 participants are expected to take part today, Saturday 28 June, in the second Swahili Day Marathon, which will start and finish at the historic Arusha Declaration Monument.

The United Nations declared 7 July as World Kiswahili Language Day in recognition of Kiswahili’s growing global influence.
