Simba SC of Tanzania will take on Morocco’s Renaissance Sportive de Berkane (RS Berkane) in a highly anticipated first-leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final today, May 17, 2025.

The match will be played at Berkane Municipal Stadium in Morocco, setting the stage for a fiercely contested two-legged showdown between East and North Africa’s top football contenders.

Simba arrived safely in Morocco on Wednesday. President Samia Suluhu Hassan supported the team by offering an Air Tanzania plane to fly the contingent and supporters.

Simba, seeking their first-ever CAF Confederation Cup title, have displayed grit and tactical discipline throughout the tournament. The Tanzanian giants secured their place in the final after a dramatic semi-final victory over Stellenbosch FC of South Africa, winning by a narrow 1-0 aggregate.

Berkane, on the other hand, are seasoned campaigners in this competition. The Moroccan club has won the title twice, in 2020 and 2022. In the current campaign, they ousted Algeria’s CS Constantine with a commanding 4-1 aggregate victory to advance to the final.

The return leg of the final will be played on May 25, 2025.
