Moshi Khalsa produced brilliant performance to submerge Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) 4–0 in the final to clinch the Mapinduzi hockey Cup in Tanga, last week.
The Kilimanjaro side dominated proceedings from the outset, displaying superior organisation, pace and clinical finishing to outclass the defending champions.
Moshi Khalsa took control early in the match and maintained relentless pressure, converting their chances while keeping a disciplined defensive line that denied TPDF any clear opportunities.
Moshi Khalsa booked their place in the final after defeating hard-fighting Arusha Twigas 1–0 in a closely contested semi-final, whereas the armymen qualified after overcoming Tanga Stars 3–1 in a penalty shoot-out following a barren draw in regular time.
The victory gives Moshi Khalsa a ticket to represent the country at the Africa Club Championship. The venue is yet to be announced, according to Tanzania Hockey Association (THA) Chairman Kaushik Doshi.
The women’s tournament was won by TPDF which defeated Twende 2-0.
