Twiga Sports Club, one of the region’s most vibrant community-based sports organisations, held its general election over the weekend in Arusha, ushering in a new era of leadership.
The newly elected leaders are expected to steer the club through its next phase of growth, focusing on strengthening its performance across various sports disciplines and enhancing youth engagement.
Satpal Lallh, a long-serving member of the club and former vice-chair, was elected as the new Chairperson. In his acceptance speech, he pledged to prioritise talent development, transparency in club management and closer collaboration to revamp sports activities. He took over from Simranpal Ghattora who did not seek re-election.
Other officials elected were: Rashvir Gahir (Vice-Chairperson); Amritpal Chadha (Secretary General); Kamalpal Jandu (Vice-Secretary); Gurjat Bhogal (Treasurer) and Arvinder Bhogal (Vice-Treasurer).
Others are: Daljit Kalsi (Sports Secretary); Rajinder Sohal (Social Secretary). Members of the committee are Amritpal Ghattora and Tajinder Bansal.
Outgoing Chairperson Ghattora congratulated the new team and urged continued unity and discipline among members. “Twiga Sports Club has made significant strides in recent years and I believe the new leadership will build on this momentum,” he remarked.
