The Kilimanjaro International Marathon (Kili Marathon) will take place in Moshi on February 7, 2027, marking its 25th edition, with more than 13,000 local and international runners expected to participate.
The event will feature the 42.2km full marathon, 21.1km half marathon and 5km fun run, bringing together elite athletes, recreational runners and fitness enthusiasts.
Since its inception in 2003, the marathon has grown into a major fixture on Tanzania’s sporting calendar, attracting participants from around the world and promoting tourism in Kilimanjaro Region.
Speaking at the launch in Dar es Salaam last week, former Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa said the competition had helped develop Tanzanian athletics by giving local runners opportunities to compete against international opponents.
He also highlighted its economic contribution, with visiting runners and spectators creating business opportunities for hotels, transport operators, traders and other service providers.
Meanwhile, Yas Tanzania has renewed its sponsorship of the half marathon for the 13th consecutive year.
The company said it would also continue supporting environmental conservation through tree planting and community education around Mount Kilimanjaro as part of its involvement in the event.
