The Tanzania Tennis Association (TTA) Under-14 National Junior Tournament 2025 concluded last weekend at Arusha Gymkhana Club, where host players achieved impressive results in both singles and doubles.
The tournament drew 40 young competitors from Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Morogoro and Dodoma and served as the final selection stage for Tanzania’s junior team ahead of the 2026 Eastern African Championship in Nairobi.
In the boys’ singles final, Ibrahim Jibe of Morogoro captured the title with a solid 6-0, 6-3 victory over Arusha Gymkhana’s Razaki Gillo. The girls’ singles final was an all-Arusha Gymkhana contest with Janeth Massawe overcoming teammate Hadija Msangi 6-4, 6-3 to lift the trophy.
The doubles matches added further excitement and highlighted Arusha Gymkhana’s depth and dominance. In the boys’ doubles final, the pair of Razaki Gillo and Ibrahim Waziri from Arusha Gymkhana edged out Ali Rajabu and Emmanuel Massauwa of AICC Arusha after a close battle that ended 6-2, 6-7(8), 11-9. The girls’ doubles final also went in favour of the hosts, as Hadija Msangi and Sayuni Mollel defeated fellow clubmates Gracious Shayo and Careen Mollel 6-1, 6-2.
The top three boys and girls from the tournament will now form the national team and travel to Nairobi for the Eastern African Championship in January 2026, marking a key milestone in their competitive pathway.
