Police in Arusha Region have heightened security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful Easter holiday season.

Christian faithful across the region and the world in general are marking the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, signalling the end of Lent, a 40-day period of repentance and fasting,

Arusha Regional Police Commander (RPC), Justine Masejo, has called on the public to celebrate responsibly and in full compliance with the laws and regulations of the country.

“Parents and guardians should ensure that children are under close supervision and are not left to celebrate far from their watchful eyes ,” he told The Arusha News by telephone.

This year’s Easter festivities coincided with mid-term school holidays as well as the commemoration of Abeid Amani Karume Day, observed on April 7.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to maintain peace and safety throughout the celebrations.
