New Maasai community leader, Sinandei Makko

Sinandei Makko will be installed today, May 30, 2026, as the new Laigwanan (leader) of the Maasai community living in Tanzania and Kenya.
Makko is from Arash, Loliondo District, Arusha.
The colourful installation ceremony will be held at his residence in Makuyuni.
According to the programme, the Laigwanan event will begin early in the morning, followed by a day-long celebration featuring traditional Maasai activities, including cattle, honey and other ceremonial offerings.
