THE WIFI THAT COME AND GO LIKE A LIE

Poetry Corner Thomas Mhando

The internet performs with grace,
Until an urgent meeting takes place.
Videos stream in perfect health,
But work calls vanish into stealth.

At midnight it becomes a king,
Delivering speed on silver wing.
By daylight it forgets its role,
Loading circles consume the soul.

I restart routers like sacred rites,
Sacrificing patience to blinking lights.
The signal bars stand proud and tall,
Yet nothing seems to load at all.

Neighbors somehow thrive online,
While mine collapses every time.
It buffers truth, delays replies,
And freezes faces mid-goodbye.

Still each month I pay on time,
Funding this invisible crime.
The Wi-Fi knows dependence deep,
The modern leash we gladly keep.
