ARUSHA AND THE WORLD

Poetry Corner Thomas Mhando

The world may soon come through the door,
With languages from shore to shore,
And delegates counting more and more.
The IPU gathers here in town,
Where parliamentarians come around,
And Arusha puts its best face down.

They will discuss the world’s affairs,
While Meru quietly climbs the stairs,
And coffee waits beside the chairs.

Some speak of peace and governance,
Some speak of rights and circumstance,
While waiters master every chance.

When meetings end and visitors roam,
They may discover something known-
Arusha can make a stranger feel at home
