THE MEADOWS

SAKINA S. DOSSAJI

She gazed at the meadows,
The flaps of her sky blue scarf
swaying in the breeze,
Her flushed cheeks
Exhilarated with joy,
Watching the lambs scurrying by,
And the clouds ahead in white puffs,
Chasing one another,
The dappled sunlight
Streaming over ripe fruits
In the orchard,
Tinkling with silver and golden bells,
As she twirled in the air,
The beauty of nature
Filling her with love and gratitude,
Looking at the other side
Was the hustle and bustle of city life,
Of wheels speeding by
Racing minds,
A maze of emotions,
She turned away for a change,
And breathed in the
Scent of sweet smelling flowers,
And tucked a bright red rose in her silken tresses,
Plucking the petals,
Like confetti, spreading
Over her path,
A path she chose to live with flair and grace,
Inviting all to walk beside her,
Pure, happy hearts,
To make the most of life,
In the best way we can.
