Telugu and Arusha Cricket Challengers (ACC) recorded impressive victories in their respective matches, as the competition moved towards the knockout stage in the ongoing Syed Khameni Memorial Cricket tournament at the St. Constantine Ground, last weekend.
In the first match, Kilimeru won the toss and elected to field, putting Telugu into bat.
Sandeep anchored the Telugu innings with an unbeaten 43, receiving valuable support from Wilberts, who scored 35 and Vijay, who contributed 27.
Their efforts helped Telugu post a competitive total of 164 for seven.
For Kilimeru, Hamza Saajan was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3 for 33, while Shahab Haider claimed 2 for 21.
In reply, Kilimeru were restricted to 135 for seven, falling 29 runs short of the target. Liaqat Ali top-scored with 39, while Aliasgar Hirji contributed 25.
Yogendra Azad produced an impressive spell for Telugu, taking 3 for 15, while Harshil Patel returned figures of 2 for 16 to help secure a 29-run victory.
In the other match, Annadil Burhani won the toss and elected to bat first against ACC.
Taha Nurbhai led the scoring with 41, while Hatim Badrudin added 29 as Annadil posted 139 for nine.
ACC captain Gurpreet Singh led the bowling attack with excellent figures of 4 for 26, while Gourav Pandey claimed 3 for 27.
Chasing 140 for victory, Jaimin Patel gave ACC a flying start with a quick 31. Veer Makwana then continued his fine form from the previous match, scoring a decisive 59.
Although ACC lost four wickets during the chase, they comfortably reached the target in the 18th over to seal victory. Husein Upa was Annadil’s most successful bowler, taking 2 for 17.
The results confirmed the teams progressing to the next stage of the competition.
