BY THE ARUSHA NEWS REPORTER

About 80 golfers from five African countries are expected to take part in the launch of the newly completed Serengeti National Park Golf Course at Fort Ikoma tomorrow, October 18, 2026.

According to Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) spokesperson, 81 players from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Malawi have confirmed for the inauguration to be officiated by Natural Resources and Tourism Minister Ashatu Kijaji.

In a statement TANAPA said the investment aims to diversify visitor experiences, attract new tourism markets and encourage longer stays.

The course occupies 450 acres on the outskirts of Serengeti National Park and features 18 holes with a total par of 72. Facilities include a clubhouse, practice areas, access roads, irrigation systems and water reservoirs.

Construction was launched on December 29, 2022, by TANAPA’s Board of Trustees, chaired by retired Chief of Defence Forces, General George Waitara.

TANAPA Conservation Commissioner Massana Gibril Mwishawa said the facility would broaden visitor experiences and strengthen Tanzania’s tourism competitiveness.

The authority said construction followed an environmental impact assessment with the design considering wildlife movement routes and avoiding sensitive migration areas.

The project was expected to create employment and stimulate demand for accommodation, transport and catering services.
