DYING DAY

BY SAKINA S. DOSSAJI

Death is real,
A solemn truth the heart resists,
Until the sorrowful whisper arrives
Of a soul now departed,
A friend, a relative, a neighbour, a familiar
face once woven into the fabric of our days.

And suddenly, a whole world falls silent.
The body lies still,
No expressions flicker across the face,
No laughter spills into the air,
No replies return,
No gentle gestures remain.

You may call their name again and again,
Yet only silence stares back at you
With its cold, unblinking eyes.

There are no lingering goodbyes,
No final embrace,
No warm handshake to soften the leaving
Only an abrupt vanishing, like mist dissolving
at dawn,
One entire existence gone within the snap of
a moment.

Life, after all,
Is but a fleeting transit,
A fragile pause between arrival and return.

So let us live tenderly, Speak kindly,
Forgive swiftly,
And cherish one another deeply.

Tomorrow is never promised,
My friend.
Let us live and let live, With peace in our
hearts and joy in our souls, while we still can.
