Arusha Region will be represented by 17 athletes at the National Athletics Championships, today in Kibaha, Coast Region, according to Arusha Regional Athletics (ARA) Chairman Gerard Babu.

Babu told The Arusha News that the athletes are in good shape and determined to deliver strong performances during the two-day championships.

He said the team left for Kibaha on Wednesday to allow the athletes enough time to settle in, familiarise themselves with the environment and prepare adequately for the prestigious national event.

“We have prepared well and our athletes are fit and ready. We expect them to compete strongly and represent Arusha with pride,” Babu said.

The championships have attracted about 650 athletes from Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, bringing together some of the country’s most promising talents in track and field.

This year’s event is being held at the Filbert Bayi School grounds in Kibaha and is expected to provide a platform for identifying and developing young athletes capable of representing Tanzania in future national and international competitions.
