Neema Olomi gave Tanzania something to celebrate after finishing third overall at the Kenya Ladies Amateur Stroke Play Championship held at Limuru Country Club in Kenya.
Olomi of Arusha Gymkhana Club completed the three-round event with a total score of 232, having played rounds of 77, 77 and 78. Her performance made her the best Tanzanian player in the tournament and placed her firmly among the top performers in the regional event.
“I did very well though it was a tough championship,” she told The Arusha News yesterday.
She added that her now focus is on inaugural Serengeti Golf Championship to be held on May 29 to 31.
“I have resumed training and setting my eyes on Serengeti Golf”.
Host Kenya’s Kanana Muthomi won the championship with a total score of 223 while Mercy Nyanchama finished second on 227. Olomi followed in third place, capping a strong outing for Tanzanian women golfers.
Other Tanzanian players also made their presence felt. Former champion Madina Iddi finished sixth on 237 after rounds of 79, 83 and 75 while Aalaa Somji tied eighth on 240 after rounds of 82, 82 and 76.
Vicky Elias finished 14th with a total of 250, following rounds of 81, 85 and 84.
