Vipul Sonigara emerged overall winner of the Masonic Golf Competition played at the Arusha Gymkhana Club golf course on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
Sonigara demonstrated an impressive performance in the Singles Regular Stroke Play competition, carding 99 gross off handicap 35 for a winning nett score of 64.
The event attracted a strong field of 53 golfers.
In Division One, which featured players with handicaps of up to 12.4, Richard Gomes claimed top honours after posting 80 gross off handicap 12 for a nett score of 68.
Kush Lodhia finished second with 76 gross off handicap six for nett 70 while Aalaa Somji came third with 73 gross off handicap one for nett 72.
Somji also recorded the lowest gross score of the day.
In Division Two, Hussein Khanbhai won the category on countback after carding 86 gross off handicap 14 for nett 72.
Raju Lodhia, who also returned nett 72 from 87 gross off handicap 15, finished second while Jamal Mukarram came third with 90 gross off handicap 15 for nett 75.
Division Three was won by Anverali Nanabhai, who produced one of the best scores of the competition, returning 88 gross off handicap 21 for nett 67.
Hussein Kermali finished second with 93 gross off handicap 20 for nett 73 while Krishna Suri took third place after carding 102 gross off handicap 29 for nett 73.
Other notable performances included Bob Shuma and Bhavesh Gohil, who also returned nett 73 in Division Three.
Several positions across the field were decided on countback, particularly on the last nine holes.
