Arusha’s star Madina Iddis is getting set for the upcoming Kenya Ladies Amateur Stroke Play Championship scheduled for May 8–10 at Limuru Country Club.
She is currently in an intensive training session at the Arusha Gymkhana Club ahead of the three-day tournament.
Madina, who lifted the title in 2023, heads into this year’s competition determined to reclaim the crown after finishing third in last year’s edition.
“I am determined to recapture the 2023 moments,” she told The Arusha News in an exclusive interview, expressing confidence in her current form following focused preparation for the past two weeks.
She will be joined by fellow Tanzanian golfer Alla Somji, another rising star on the regional circuit, as the duo looks to make a strong impression against a competitive East African field.
The championship, organised under the Kenya Ladies Golf Union calendar, is expected to attract over 70 top amateur golfers from across the region, including leading players from Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. The event will be contested over 54 holes of stroke play, placing a premium on consistency across all three rounds.
Madina recently finished third in Kenya Ladies Golf Union Open in Nairobi. Her colleague Neem Olomi was second and Alla Somji finished fourth.
