Arusha Gymkhana Club will today, July 25, host 40 junior tennis players for the AGC Tennis 10’s Tournament.
The two-day competition has brought together players from Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Dodoma and hosts Arusha to compete in three age categories.
The categories are six-and-under for players born in 2020, eight-and-under for those born in 2018 and ten-and-under for players born in 2016.
The tournament is intended to promote grassroots tennis development and give young players an opportunity to gain competitive match experience.
Tournament coordinator and lead coach Nicolaus Leringa said junior competitions were important in developing the sport and identifying promising players.
Parents, spectators and sports enthusiasts have been invited to attend the tournament and support the young players throughout the weekend. The matches start from 9am.
