Being in the technology space for over thirty years, Arusha Node Marie (ANM) has continued to empower secondary schools in Tanzania by assisting schools in computer laboratory installations.
Todate, ANM has successfully installed ten computer laboratories in ten different schools in Arusha and Manyara regions.
These computer laboratories are installed with server systems from Reneal International Education Outreach, providing offline educational materials for both students and teachers.
Alongside laboratory installations, ANM offers capacity building to teachers in the beneficiary schools; this helps teachers acquire new teaching skills.
On February 13 early this year, ANM launched the new programme called Elimu-Tech Digital and Innovation Clubs (EDIC); these are ICT clubs that run in the beneficiary schools around Meru District in Arusha.
EDIC is a school-based digital empowerment initiative designed to strengthen computer literacy, innovation and practical ICT skills among secondary school students in Tanzania.
The project responds to the growing demand for digital competencies required for academic success, employment and participation in the digital economy.
The programme operates through Digital Innovation Clubs established in the ANM philanthropic schools, where students receive structured, hands-on training in computer use, internet safety, coding, creativity, and digital entrepreneurship.
Currently, the project is implemented in three secondary schools in Arusha Region: Kitefu Secondary School, Madiira Secondary School and Akeri Secondary School. The programme is coordinated by ANM, with Chanya Change as the project’s facilitators.
Chanya Change deploys trained facilitators to schools, supervises implementation and ensures quality delivery. Through practical learning, mentorship and project-based activities, the initiative nurtures creativity, collaboration and responsible technology use.
ANM is calling out all education stakeholders, including NGOs, Tech enthusiasts and individuals, to support its mission, which states as follows: “To instil a passion for and integrate ICT skills at the basic education level in Tanzania through mainstreaming digital resources, providing ICT equipment and teachers’ capacity building in ICT.”
Stakeholders can join ANM in the following ways:
- Providing professional training based on the teachers’ demand.
- Collaborating with ANM in the EDIC Initiative by providing special STEM and robotics sessions, hence inspiring curiosity through Innovation.
- Stakeholders can provide donations of both equipment and cash to enable ANM to reach more schools in Tanzania.
