Emotions cease, they expire if unreciprocated,
just like withered plants.
What choice do they have, if left untended,
but to wither and die?
Emotions are nurtured, a drop of oil reinstates the flame of love,
burning passionately, in leaps of delight,
in embers of crimson and gold.
The bond of friendship needs strengthening,
for if isolated for long, they become someone you once knew.
Treasure the gold of old,
for it is your old friends who keep the torch of friendship
burning,
despite your imperfections.
Love the people in your life, love their energy,
appreciate their time and interest in your well being.
Take not for granted their ever present presence.
They may wish to be there forever,
but who has been promised the gift of tomorrow?
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Emotions are priceless,
for they are part of your treasure trove.
The rivers of joy are yours,
as are the springs of burning tears,
the knot of fear when darkness envelops,
the angst when all seems to fall apart,
the sting of disgust, the marvel of sweet surprises.
Whatever they may be, they belong to you,
they are what you are made of.
Value friendships and relationships.
Live, love, laugh.
Maintain them, cement, plaster, paint, polish,
do whatever it takes to keep the boat rowing.
Drill no holes, untie the sails, holler! Push in the oars
and keep the cha cha cha of emotions rolling.
