Kilimeru defeated TCA by 46 runs in their final group match last weekend at the St Constantine Grounds, but the result was not enough to keep either side in the tournament.
After winning the toss, TCA elected to field first and sent Kilimeru in to bat. Kilimeru posted a competitive total of 118 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs led by Shahab Haider who continued his good form from the previous match with a fighting 59. He was well supported by Syed Gulfam Naqvi who contributed 24.
For TCA, Juma Safari was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 28 runs. Agnes Joseph also bowled well, claiming 1 for 13 whereas Christopher Silvenus took 1 for 18.
In reply TCA’s chase never really found momentum. Azhar Lalji, returning to the Kilimeru side, produced an outstanding spell, taking 4 wickets for just 8 runs. He was supported by Hussein Dhirani who claimed 2 for 22 and Liaqat Ali took 1 for 9.
Daniel Peter was the only TCA batsman to offer real resistance, scoring 25, but wickets continued to fall around him. TCA were eventually bowled out for 72 in 13 overs, handing Kilimeru a convincing 46-run victory.
Despite the win, Kilimeru, TCA, ACC and Kilimeru 313 have all been eliminated from the competition.
The four teams that have qualified for the semi-finals are Annadil Burhani, A to Z, Telugu and MCC.
