Dar es Salaam rally driver Manveer Birdi outclassed his rivals to win the Euro Cables Rally of Kisarawe in Coast Region on Sunday.
Birdi, driving a Škoda Fabia Evo for the ASAS Rally Team, completed the event in one hour, 14 minutes and 20 seconds to secure a convincing victory.
Navigated by Zubayr Piredina, Birdi finished four minutes and 52 seconds ahead of second-placed Tufail Amin Jr, while Waleed Nahdy claimed third position.
Arusha favourites Gurpal Sandhu and his navigator, David Sihoka, were running third on points, but a mechanical problem forced them out of the race.
The victory marked a strong comeback for Birdi and boosted his campaign in this year’s Tanzania National Rally Championship.
The two-day rally, held on Saturday and Sunday, attracted some of Tanzania’s leading drivers and tested the crews on the demanding routes of Kisarawe District.
