Bella Sikwattah, Kamal Jandu and Avtar Singh Neote emerged winners in their respective divisions during the Lions Clubs Charity Golf Competition played at Arusha Gymkhana Club on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Sikwattah won Division 1, for golfers with handicaps of up to 12.4, after returning a gross 78 and handicap 10 for a net score of 68. Christopher Botha finished second with a net 69, after carding 75 off handicap six and also recorded the lowest gross score. Obadia John Ayo came third on net 70, after a gross 77 off handicap seven.
In Division 2, for handicaps between 12.5 and 18.4, Jandu claimed first place with a net 69, after scoring 86 off handicap 17. Paul Ngugi was runner-up with a net 75 while Jamali Mukarram finished third on net 76.
Avtar Singh Neote topped Division 3, for handicaps between 18.5 and 36.4, with the best net score of the competition. He returned 85 off handicap 22 for a net 63. Vipul Sonigara finished second with a net 69 and Randall Pomije took third place, also on net 69.
The tournament attracted 49 golfers and was organised by the Arusha Lions Club as part of efforts to raise funds for an eye camp that will provide screening services and cataract surgeries in the Arusha Region. The date and venue of the camp are expected to be announced later.
Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony, Manish Chavda, the Lions Clubs International District Governor in Tanzania and an Arusha resident, said the club was planning to make the fund-raising golf tournament an annual event on Arusha’s sporting and charity calendar.
