THE BEAUTY OF THE SUN-KISSED SKY

SAKINA S. DOSSAJI

It peeped from the skies,
A pearly hue,
To glisten with dew.
The buttery sun,
Spreading its warmth
The clouds billowed
And puffed.

And the sky had a
Beehive activity of its own,
With an orchestra of bird twitter,
Or the sound of an occasional chopper.

The day wrapped its folds into a ruby-red knot of ribbons,
And then like a bashful youth
Kissing for the first time,
Blushed the sun in a peach-pink hue,
Surrendering to the brilliance
Of the moon,
That awaited earnestly to glide through,
Wading pillows of comfort and rest
Into the stillness of the night.
